At the recent HCPC Annual Membership Meeting, Ed Hancock, retired president of AmerisourceBergen Packaging Group, was recognized for his achievements and commitment to advancing compliance prompting packaging in the pharmaceutical packaging industry. Hancock was a founding member of the HCPC organization and served two terms as Chairman of the Board of Directors over the organization's 21 year history.
"Ed has been a tireless advocate for the principals of this organization, namely to influence broader adoption of compliance prompting packaging in an effort to create better health outcomes" states Walter Berghahn, HCPC Executive Director. "Ed recognized early on that package design and calenderized formats for medicines can positively affect patient behavior in supporting patient compliance and adherence. Now in 2011 the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry is recognizing packaging as a critical tool in addressing the challenge of poor adherence across many therapeutic categories. Ed has been a really visionary in championing this cause."
Hancock was president of AmerisourceBergen Packaging Group for the past ten years, overseeing tremendous growth. This includes the expansion of the group with the acquisition of Anderson Packaging Inc. and internationally with the addition of Brecon Pharmaceuticals, in Wales, United Kingdom. He recently retired, having held various leadership positions within the pharmaceutical packaging industry over the past 25 years.
