CSI Testing Certifies Perfecseal Medical Pouch Converting to Class 7 Cleanroom Standards

BobyPerfecseal has certified its Oshkosh, WI sterile medical pouch and bag manufacturing facility to ISO 14644-1 (1999) Class 7 cleanroom standards. Though already operating the facility at a Class 7 cleanroom standard since 1997, it did not seek certification until 2011. For more information, click here.

Reed-Lane introduces new Wrapade V-618 vertical pouch machine.

Reed-Lane is introducing the new Wrapade V-618 vertical pouch machine. The machine is designed to meet the needs of the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical markets with high performance and flexibility for four-sided seal pouches. Reed-Lanes' Wrapade pouching machine provides cost-effective pouching for large runs of solid dose products, including tablets, capsules and liquid gels. It will handle a variety of pouch materials and will produce a CR notch, laser print lot, and expiry information.

Colbert Receives SFI Chain of Custody Certification in Louisville

CHICAGO, Dec. 7, 2011 – Colbert Packaging Corporation, a leading manufacturer of folding cartons, rigid paper boxes and paperboard specialty products, today announced that its Louisville, Ky.-based manufacturing facility has received Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI®) Chain of Custody Certification (NSF-SFICOC-C0038447) from NSF-ISR, an organization accredited by ANSI to certify companies to SFI standards. Colbert's Louisville facility is the fourth to achieve one or more chain of custody certifications for its compliance with the strict tracking requirements pertaining to certified paperboard originating in well-managed forests. New Catalent/SDI Study Shows Adherence Packaging Solutions Drive Substantial Gains in Patient Persistency

HARRY VAN BEEK, FORMER PRESIDENT OF KLÖCKNER PENTAPLAST/AMERICAS, PASSES AWAY.

Harry van Beek, 77, former president of Klöckner Pentaplast/Americas from 1977-1999, passed away on April 4, 2011. Van Beek founded the company in Gordonsville (Virginia) in 1977. Under his leadership, kp had gone from a single calender line to become the leading supplier of rigid film in the Americas. For more information, click here.

KLÖCKNER PENTAPLAST NEW SHRINK-LABEL FILM PRODUCTION CAPACITY STARTS UP IN AMERICAS

The Klöckner Pentaplast Group announced today that it has begun production utilizing its new global production capacity for transverse-direction oriented shrink label films, used primarily for full- or partial-body shrink-sleeve applications. Announced in March 2010 as part of kp’s global capacity expansion plans for shrink-label film, the new capacity is located at the company’s Rural Retreat, USA, manufacturing facility. Klöckner Pentaplast is the only PETG and PVC producer of shrink-label films with global manufacturing in the Americas, Asia, and Europe. For more information, click here.

The Klöckner Pentaplast Group announced today that it has acquired Waytek Corporation (Franklin,Ohio), a coating and converting company specializing in coated overlay films for the card market. Colbert Packaging Receives Its First Canadian Patent

Colbert Packaging Corporation, a leading manufacturer of folding cartons, rigid paper boxes and paperboard specialty products, today announced that it has been granted its first Canadian patent for BlisterGuard®, its secure and sustainable packaging solution for consumer products. The patent (2,497,044) was issued by the Canadian Intellectual Property Office for the unique design of BlisterGuard, one of approximately a dozen paperboard specialty products developed by Colbert Packaging in recent years. KLÖCKNER PENTAPLAST ADDS NEW POLYESTER CAPACITY AT US SITE

The Klöckner Pentaplast Group recently announced that it has added new polyester production capacity at the company’s Rural Retreat, Virginia, manufacturing facility. The new line will increase capacity for high-performance polyester films to support growth in full-body shrink-label, general-purpose thermoforming, medical device, and all-plastic box packaging applications. Misher brings extensive experience in the area of Clinical Trials, including founding and operating Misher Pharmaceutical Consulting Services for the past 8 years. Prior to Misher Consulting Services, Misher held leadership positions at pharmaceutical organizations including Aptuit, Almedica International, BlisTech, Boehringer Ingelheim, and Wyeth. MWV’s Dosepak Express® Receives Ease-of-Use Commendation from the Arthritis Foundation

MeadWestvaco Corp. recently announced that its Dosepak Express® child resistant, adherence packaging has earned commendation from the Arthritis Foundation’s Ease-of-Use program, as a user-friendly product for the 46 million people in the United States living with arthritis. Dosepak Express is the first blister-designed, adherence packaging to receive the Ease-of-Use designation from the Arthritis Foundation. It has already been tested by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, and received a 100 percent rating on senior opening protocol tests, as well as the CPSC’s highest child resistance rating.
